Cross-platform Mobile App Development Showcase

This physics-based game features a chameleon named Mango that you can immediately fall in love with. Mango is a dashing chameleon, in search of delicious treats to fill his empty belly. When he comes upon a vintage café that has mouthwatering flies in the window he simply can't resist. It's no ordinary café however, he must put some effort into earning his food. The action begins inside the café where Mango swings from his tongue to crash into various objects in order to unleash and eat the delicious flies.

There are 50 exciting levels with a variety of obstacles with different properties, power ups and trophies. Players must think carefully about each swing they take in order to get the highest reward – the Gold Trophy!

Digital Touch Games is formed by a group of seven graduate students from the Centre for Digital Media as part of their final pitch project. As a multidisciplinary team, they have collaborated together to develop the concept all the way through production and polish. Guiding them is an experienced game designer and fellow alumni, as well as various industry consultants. The team was excited about attending the Game Developer's Conference 2011 in San Francisco this Spring and showcasing their game at the Centre for Digital Media booth.

Shahrzad Aghasharifianesfahani - Art Director

Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Shahrzad completed her bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in Iran. After moving to Canada, her passion for animation led her to the Vancouver Film School, where she graduated from the Classical Animation program with honors in Dec. 2008. So far her final film has been screened at several international film festivals. Given her artistic background and her desire to be in a professional environment, she entered the Master of Digital Media. She is thrilled to interact with the diversity of individuals which the program attracts in order to further develop the ability of working as an effective producer/director in the digital media industry.

Carmen Chow - Game Designer / Sound Designer

Carmen Chow is a game designer who has dedicated her university career to studying human interaction with technology. Utilizing methods of innovation and her scholarship in psychology, she intends to apply her insight of creating human experiences to creating worlds of immersive fun in the games she designs. She has graduated with a BA in Interactive Arts and Technology from Simon Fraser University with a minor in Psychology.

Mohamed El-Eryan - Project Manager

Mohamed is an easy going, friendly Egyptian-Canadian who is fluent in both Arabic and English and enjoys the diverse culture of both countries. He graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Media Arts from the School of Interactive Arts and Technology. Mohamed has worked on a critically acclaimed game during his studies, in addition to, two back to back contracts at EA Games as a Quality Assurance Tester. He hopes to expand his current skill sets from the industry leading digital media experts at MDM and be on the pioneering edge of the rapidly evolving digital world.

Airlia Hansen - Interaction Designer

Airlia has a multifaceted background, a mixture of art and science. She graduated with a BSc. in Primatology and a Minor in Music from the University of Calgary. Having also taken art throughout University she continued into the digital realm by starting a photography business. Working now at the Centre for Digital Media she has had the opportunity to develop her skills and move into the Game Industry. She has worked as a User Experience/Interaction Designer on many projects, including her internship with the Pogo team at EA in Montreal. She looks forward to working with inspiring teams and enhancing the way people interact with the entertainment they so enjoy.

Jeffrey Lane - Technical Director

After graduating with a degree in Engineering and Computer Science from Harvard, Jeff came home to Vancouver to continue his education. His passion for computer graphics led him to the MDM program, where he has developed his skills through a variety of projects focused on creative applications of technology in video games, animated film, and education. Last summer, he worked as a Technical Analyst and Software Engineer at Electronic Arts Redwood Shores. While his specialty is 3D graphics programming, he is comfortable with a wide range of game programming work, as shown by his work on Crash Craving.

Nickolas Marouhos - Programmer

Nick is a game designer with a mixed background in communication theory, multimedia design and development. He graduated with a Combined Honours degree from McMaster University with a double major in Multimedia and Communication Studies and a minor in Computer Science. He has worked in the e-learning and advertising fields as a graphic designer and interactive media developer. During his studies at the MDM, Nick has built upon his passion for game design and now looks to apply his talents in the increasingly dynamic game space.

Alice Tai - Game Designer

A graduate of SFU with a BSc in Interactive Arts and Technology, Alice used her expertise in interaction design to produce exciting and user-friendly technology. A passionate designer, she applied her skills for CATGames, a Canadian Heritage funded project, as well as Research in Motion, where she created next-gen Blackberry interfaces with multi-disciplinary teams. Alice spent last summer as a design and production intern at Electronic Art's Maxis studio in California, where she gained experience working on a major PC title, Darkspore. After graduating, she hopes to achieve her long-term career goal of creating amazing and inclusive gaming experiences.

Mango - Hero

Mango is a young and dashing chameleon who is always looking for adventure and tasty snacks to fill his appetite. He was born on paper, transformed into clay and turned into a digital star. His unique love for swinging allows him to catch the best tasting flies that no one else can. He uses food in his environment to his advantage in order to get past the obstacles in his way. He's learned a lot from his team at Digital Touch Games and can't wait for his next adventure in the real world with lots of new people!
